🌿 Milk Bottle Sea Grass Craft Guide

We’re turning waste into wonder! Follow these simple steps to transform 2L milk bottles into beautiful sea grass for our sensory space project. Completing 10 bottles earns you 1 verified volunteer hour.

βœ… STEP 1: Collect & Wash

  • Collect clean 2L milk bottles (with lids).

  • Wash thoroughly with warm soapy water.

  • To remove sour milk smell, add 1 teaspoon of bleach, shake well, rinse, and let it dry completely.

  • Once dry, replace the lid securely.

βœ… STEP 2: Remove Branding

  • Peel off all stickers, labels, and branding from the outside of the bottle.

βœ… STEP 3: Template Time

  • Download the sea grass templates below.

  • Print and cut out the shapes carefully.

βœ… STEP 4 & 5: Trace

  • Use your templates to trace the sea grass outline onto all four sides of the bottle.

βœ… STEP 6: Cut the Base

  • Carefully cut off the bottom of the bottle.

  • A serrated knife or craft knife will help with tough plastic.

βœ… STEP 7: Split the Bottle

  • Cut up each of the four vertical seams to split the bottle into four flaps.

  • Keep a firm base near the lid intact – this helps the structure stay sturdy.

βœ… STEP 8: Remove Handle

  • Carefully cut out and remove the handle.

  • Keep the handle for another upcoming craft project!

βœ… STEP 9: Cut the Leaves

  • Using the outlines you traced, cut out the leaf shapes on all four flaps.

βœ… STEP 10: Finished Look

  • Here’s what your finished milk bottle sea grass should look like. 🌾
