Packing Pads with Dignity Dreams

Packing with Purpose: 200 Dignity Dreams Packs Thanks to You!

On a mission to empower young people and restore dignity across South Africa, Volunteer Now joined forces with Dignity Dreams for a heartwarming and high-impact day of giving back — and we’re still buzzing from the incredible energy!

Thanks to the generosity and hands-on spirit of our volunteers, 200 Washable Pad Packs were lovingly packed and prepared for distribution to girls and women in under-resourced communities. That’s 200 lives impacted with a simple, sustainable, and life-changing solution.

Held in true Volunteer Now style — the event was more than just an assembly line; it was a celebration of community, compassion, and collective action.

Why Dignity Dreams?

In case you haven’t met them yet, Dignity Dreams is a South African non-profit organisation doing powerful work. They manufacture and distribute eco-friendly, washable sanitary pad packs, offering a dignified and sustainable alternative to single-use menstrual products. These packs last up to 5 years and provide a safe, cost-effective solution to period poverty — a challenge faced by millions of girls in our country.

For many recipients, these pads mean more than hygiene. They mean school attendance, self-confidence, and peace of mind. No more using newspaper or staying home. Just dignity. Period.

A Day of Purpose (and Packing!)

Our volunteers arrived bright-eyed and ready to roll, taking on the task with all the enthusiasm we’ve come to expect from our rockstar Volunteer Now family. Some tackled folding. Others labelled, sorted, or tied ribbon. One small team formed a very focused “quality control” unit that insisted on testing every drawstring — twice. (We love the dedication!)

Amid laughter, a little friendly competition (“Who can pack the fastest without losing precision?”), and a LOT of teamwork, we hit the goal: 200 completed Dignity Dreams Packs ready for delivery to learners and young women in need.

One volunteer shared, “It’s such a simple thing — packing pads — but when you realise how it changes someone’s life, it becomes something really meaningful. I’m so glad I came.”

Thank You, Volunteers!

To every single person who showed up, thank you. Whether you packed, carried, laughed, or handed out snacks — your contribution mattered. Your time, energy, and compassion helped create something truly valuable.

It’s proof that when we come together, we can do more than we imagine. Small acts, multiplied by many, lead to real impact. And that’s what Volunteer Now is all about.
